The phone numbers provided here are for the purpose of obtaining general information
only. In the event of a real emergency,

All marine patrol vessels and

radio.

The Coast Guard monitors this
channel 24 hours a day.
Reserve "mayday" only if grave
Your boat is taking on water,
there's a fire on board, a
person is overboard, there's
been a collision, or someone on
board has a serious injury.
"Mayday" is an international
distress signal. It comes from
the French verb m'aidez, which
means "help me."
When you call for a mayday,
not only will the Coast Guard
and/or a marine patrol vessel
respond, but other boaters who
are monitoring the frequency
may respond as well.
By Marine VHF Radio
By Phone
By Distress Signals
When your vessel is in distress,
display the on board distress
signals which may be observed
by patrol vessels, persons on
shore, aircraft or other boaters.
